What is Pilates?
 
Pilates was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It is a body conditioning technique that focuses on core strength, the strengthening of weak muscles and stretching and lengthening strong muscles.
 
There are 8 main principles in Pilates:
  1.   Relaxation
  2.   Breathing
  3.   Concentration
  4.   Flowing movement
  5.   Alignment
  6.   Co-ordination
  7.   Centering
  8.   Stamina

Every one of all levels of physical fitness and all ages can benefit from Pilates. It is a low-impact method of body conditioning that is safe and gentle. Those new to exercise, professional sports persons, dancers, those who want to improve performance or prevent injury can all benefit.
