A big welcome to all those who have attended fro m other dance schools. Thank you all for trying so hard. We have all gained so much from working with professional dancers, here is looking forward to the next one!
January 2010 Nutcracker Workshop.
Dancing Academy are offering a Professional Ballet Workshop based on the famous Christmas Ballet The Nutcracker.
The workshop will be taught by a Professional Ballet Dancer who was a former Head Boy of The Royal Ballet School where he trained for 8 years, graduating with the Royal Ballet School Diploma in Dance. He now runs his own company - Professional Dance Experience - which aims to share his professional experience with as many people as possible.
We will be offering different workshops for both adults and children at separate times. The format of the workshops is detailed below:
Adults: The workshop will last three hours and will include a professional ballet master class taught in the style of a ballet company's daily class but tailored to suit your ability. After the master class you will then have a chance to discuss the repertoire of the Nutcracker Ballet and then learn a dance based on the choreography of the ballet.
This workshop is open to adults and senior students aged 15 +.
Children: The workshop will last between one hour and one and a half hours and is a shortened version of the full workshop. The class will include a short dance class to warm up. Discussion about the Nutcracker Ballet. Students will be taught a short dance based on the Nutcracker. Children will have the chance to learn some of the dream roles such as the sugar plum fairy and of course for boys the opportunity of dancing the Nutcracker Prince too.
These workshops are open to children 4 + and groups will be arranged into similar grades and ability's.
This is a fantastic way to start the new year so please let me know if you are interested. Places are limited so booking a place is essential.
We do not have specific details on times as it will depend on how many groups we have.

Dancing Academy Welcomes Our New Teacher, Fernando Cervi.
December 2009. A warm welcome to our new teacher, Fernando. Fernando, a professional dancer, will be offering street and jazz classes. His full profile can be found on Our Teachers page. Be sure to check out our revised timetable for class details.
Fernando will also be offering his own salsa classes for single and couples at the Dancing Academy studio.
Dancing Academy Is Moving.
Following our continuing growth and success Dancing Academy will now be located in its own private studio from the 9th November.
Dancing Academy will now be allowing a wider access to our Tap and Street classes.
The new studio will allow us to reschedule our classes to times that are more convenient to our pupils. It will allow us to be more flexible with putting on new classes. It will also allow us to start Saturday teaching. Something that many of our pupils have requested.

Sleeping Beauty For All Summer School
14th, 15th and 16th August 2009.

Dancing Academy would like to offer a huge thank you to all those who helped make this years summer school a huge success. To all our helpers for all that they did, and to all our ballerinas, both adult and child, who put on such a good show, all within three days. Some of our dancers have never performed before and we think they all did tremendously.
Once again we cannot thank Kimberly Rawson enough for taking time from her busy schedule as a professional ballerina and giving us all an insight into this wonderful art and profession.
Sleeping Beauty For All Summer School
14th, 15th and 16th August 2009.
Following on from the success of last years Swan Lake For All, this year Dancing Academy are offering a three day summer school for all ages of children, students and adults; for members and none members with a Sleeping Beauty theme.
Our summer school will be based on the ballet Sleeping Beauty giving all involved a wonderful opportunity to experience one of the most famous ballets.
Professional Ballerina and Royal Ballet graduate Kimberley Rawson: (RAD RTS PDTD) will be joining us again and will be offering insight into the choreography of this Ballet. Kimberley will provide a unique experience for all who attend this summer school. As well as insight into choreography Kimberley will also be teaching ballet classes to students.
Places are limited, to avoid disappointment please contact us to reserve a place as soon as possible.
The days will be split into the following:
Morning session 1: 9.30 - 11.00
This session is for the very young children aged three to five. Including ballet dancing, costume making and Sleeping Beauty choreography; with rehearsals for the performance on day three.
Morning session 2: 9.30 - 12.00
This session is for older children aged between six and eleven. Including ballet dancing and Sleeping Beauty choreography; with rehearsals for the performance on day three.
Afternoon sessions: 12.00pm - 5.30pm
This session is for older students and adults from 12 upwards. Classes will be divided into appropriate age ranges and abilities. Including freestyle ballet class, Pilates core training class, technique advice, Sleeping Beauty choreography, pointe work (if appropriate) and rehearsals for the performance on day three.
Any level of experience is welcome from complete novice to experienced dancers. There will be something for everyone and all abilities. Please call to discuss.
Prices for the w.end:
3-5yrs: £22.50
6-11yrs: £25
12-adults: £35
Performance: This will be held at the end of day three. Tickets will be sold for a small price of £3.00 per ticket to cover the cost of venue hire.
Venue: Chippenham
Dancing Academy is offering an Introduction to ballet for beginners on Sunday 11th January from 10am - 12pm. The workshop will be held in Chippenham, Wiltshire. The venue is to be confirmed.
